Please read the following information about a new internet site my partners and I are starting. It is an alternative to eBay and other huge corporation auction sites. We are NOT big corporate people. I have been a school teacher for 30 years, teaching children with special needs. My son, Cliff, served 4 years in the Navy. That's where he learned computers, which will come in handy with our site. My youngest son, Tommy, has been in the fast food business. He started working at 16 and now is a manager of a pizza place.
It occurred to us that people might be getting tired of all the fees charged by these sites. There seems to be a charge for everything: posting charge, adding a picture charge, adding a thumbnail picture charge, highlighting charge, bold letter charge, large print charge, attention grabber icon charge, transaction charge, % of sale price charge, etc, etc, etc. And these fees just keep rising! I know it is very frustrating for me when I want to sell an item. And if you don't pay for all the fancy stuff, your item looks just plain crappy. I really cannot compete against the big e-commerce stores. I just want to sell my item.
Anyhow, after a lot of discussion and ideas, we came up with this plan. What if we only had to pay a monthly or yearly membership charge to post items? No additional charges for anything else, ever. Just a membership charge!! What if we could just sell an item without the auction? Sometimes using the auction forum is very frustrating. This would be like a yard sale done in our house at our convenience. No rain! No heat! No Bugs! We just put a price on it and sell it. I guess people could haggle if they wanted to. It's up to us!!! I have lot of items that I really don't want to sell at a yard sale because they are worth more than most yard sale patrons are willing to pay. But if I post them on some of the other auction sites, I wont get any more than the yard sale price because of all the fees.
What if we could just swap our stuff for something else we want? It could essentially be free. If we swap something even-steven, then we wouldn't even have to pay shipping. WOW! Just think something for FREE! What a concept.
Our site is at the beginning stages, but we hope by word of mouth news will travel fast. And until we get a good item base, there are no charges. This can only work if we get enough supporters.
